Trevarno Gardens, is a rare and special part of Cornwall. Owned by a series of notable families through the centuries from 1246, it is the last of five manorial estates remaining in the area.
Open to the public on a year round basis since 1998, the wonderfully relaxing 35 acre Victorian garden has a treasure chest of features including a Lake and Boathouse, Yew Tunnel and an italian Garden creating a magical and memorable experience for all age groups.
A "must see" is the amazing National Museum of Gardening where tools of all ages and complexity are displayed in ten themed areas. There's the Vintage Soap Collection or the nostalgic Colin Gregory Vintage Toy Collection too (small additional charge).
A unique range of craft workshops, sharing a common ethos of using material from the estate or being influenced by its grounds, are being developed. This includes the Organic herbal Workshop which was the first in the UK to be granted formal certification by the Organic Farmers & Growers Association.
Opened in August 2005 was the Woodland Adventure Play Area which provides a marvelous area for the youngsters to let off steam before accompanying the adults around the garden.
Whatever the weather Trevarno offers a wonderful day out, with the Fountain Garden Conservatory providing delicious homemade foods, the Estate Walk to feed the mind and soul and the plant sales area and new shop to cover your gift needs.
Dogs on leads welcome.
